another year older in Chicago

I've always wished my birthday was at a different time of year. Christmas has just passed, Valentine's Day is a week off, and it's overall just a "yucky" time of year. This year I told Keith I wanted to go to Chicago for the weekend for a little getaway. I found a room at the Hard Rock Hotel for $99 online. It was right on Michigan Ave in the middle of everything. Fun! We took the South Shore Train from Michigan City into Chicago. Man, this is the way to go! Only costs $8 and dropped us off steps from our hotel. Don't have to worry about driving and parking in the city. The train ride was quicker than I thought. Plus it is great for people watching :)

It was a neat hotel. Lots of rock-n-roll memorabilia throughout. We had the Beatles in our bathroom :)

Deep dish pizza at Lou Malnati's. So good
We did a lot of walking around (a couple of times it was because we got lost). There were lots of cool statues around the city. Kind of like Artprize that was in Grand Rapids this past fall.

The cute cake Keith had delivered to work for me last week :)

Glad you had fun and posted pictures already! I'm jealous you got to eat such yummy looking pizza. We'll have to try that train sometime since it's so cheap and easy. Did you end up shopping in Michigan City on the way home?

How long was the drive to Michigan City? Glad it was fun! I would love to stay overnight there sometime. The summer would be fun because it would be nicer to walk around.

Glad you had fun, honey! I didn't realize Union Station would be so close to your hotel - that really made it convenient! Did you happen to go to the House of Blues nearby? Loved your birthday cake, too - that was nice of Keith!
