broken leg, broken heart

Jen called me a while ago with the terrible news that poor Mace broke her leg tonight. Sounds like it was a pretty bad "twisting" break to the bone below her knee (I can't remember the name of that bone at the moment...) She was having fun jumping off the ottoman when it happened. She must have landed on it in just the wrong way. Sounds like she is going to be in a cast for much of the summer. It makes me so sad to think of her in such pain. I'd do anything to take it away. I can only imagine what Jen and Jason are going through. I wish a kiss and a band aid would fix this one for you Macey. Aunt Brenda loves you!

Bren - Thanks much for your call about Macey - I also called Aunt Carol and my Rachel (will call Katie tomorrow)and we are all so sad to hear the news. One thing Aunt Carol and I thought of is to send Mace a little something in the mail - just a card, maybe a coloring book, some stickers, etc., so that she gets something in the mail each day, at least for the first week or two. Poor little darling....

Bren, your post made me cry. Just hearing what happened makes it more real. I feel like it's just a bad dream right now and she'll be fine when she wakes up. Thanks for calling everyone and keeping them posted. Let's pray today goes well!!! She'll be excited to see you tomorrow for sure...

It makes me sad to see her wearing her little 50 cent Teva shoes in this picture that we got at the garage sale the day she was playing on the scooter at the same sale...she wanted that scooter. Now there will be no scooter riding or running for at least 6 weeks. :(
It will take a few days before Macey gets anything in the mail from Oregon, but once they start coming, they will come on a regular basis

Oh no! Summer in casts is the worst; I can only imagine how it affects someone who is just learning to enjoy summertime in Michigan. I'll keep her in my thoughts and prayers!

Reminds me though of the time my crazy cousins (and YOUR crazy friends...) convinced me at the tender age of 3 to do something that broke my arm. And then again at the age of 7 when they convinced me to do a handstand with my hands backwards on the side of a couch for the same outcome... hmm. :)
