Crazy for Honey Crisps!

After looking at the radar this morning Keith and I decided it would be best if we didn't go to Chicago today for the game. Looks like we made the right decision as the game has been postponed. I suggested we go to Crane's Orchard to pick some Honey Crisp apples. I have never picked apples right off the tree before and it has always been something I've wanted to do. For some reason today was the one and only day you could pick the Honey Crisps at Crane's. I guess people come all of the way from Chicago to get them! I figured with the rain it wouldn't be that busy. Wrong! These people are just about as crazy as those who get up in the middle of the night to shop the day after Thanksgiving :) It was downpouring the entire time but we had fun. Plus, the apples are SO good that it is worth it. We had to wait close to an hour in line to pay for them. I've already made apple crisp with them. Yum!
Keith dressed much more accordingly that I did and stayed WAY more dry
46 lbs. of apples!

Oh my...those apples look sooo good! Cool pictures. Good decision to not go to Chicago...you'll think of it every time you eat a honeycrisp.

Bren - So glad you stayed home - we were all wondering about whether or not you went! The kids and I are headed to Chicago in about an hour - Aunt Carol made it safe and sound and is waiting at Katie's apartment. I'm going to try to post a few quick pictures before we go.....
